Build a Smart Trashcan with me!

You’ve finally stumbled on a brief beginner-friendly tutorial which demonstrates the most straightforward way and the various component that go into making a smart trash can.

A conventional trashcan that has a sensor attached to it is referred to as a “smart bin”. Here, the term “smart” refers to many techniques for enhancing its intelligence and effectiveness. A smart trashcan can offer a function for compressing trash, automatic lid opening and shutting, a display for garbage volume, and tracking and management of the trash can.

On this blog, we will focus on building an automatic open and close system.

I used the Arduino microcontroller board which never disappoints in all my projects!

COMPONENTS LIST
  • Arduino
  • Servo Motor
  • Ultrasonic Sensor
  • Breadboard

CODE

You’ll find the code for this project on the link below on my GitHub account.

For those who don’t know what GitHub is, it is somewhat of a social network for developers which permits you to share your projects, but also see and contribute to other people’s project and they can contribute to yours as well. It also enables you to test changes to code without losing the original and revert back to old versions of code. Just be aware, if you are an aspiring talented developer, you should use this popular platform and become familiar with the slang terms used on GitHub. Well, this because it is essential and cooool.

One of the finest methods to learn Arduino and its IDE language if you’re a newbie is without a doubt by working on real-world projects. I advise you to continue looking for cool projects you may use these components for. For those who might not have the necessary tools, do not worry—there are many free online interfaces that make it possible to simulate your 3D circuits. Tinkercad is the first one I was introduced to.
It’s interesting how the impact we make on others is influenced by our initial encounter.
I know you might be thinking, “Ugh, another difficult concept to understand,” but ladies and gentlemen we are members of generation Z. This means that Google will always be your friend.
